Founder and CEO Hilary Gowins is a Chicago-based writer, content strategist and editor.

Hilary has received two Lisagor Awards from the Chicago Headline Club, as well as a PR News Award for her writing. Her work has been published in The Hill, the Chicago Sun-Times, Crain’s Chicago Business, huffingtonpost.com, the Rockford Register-Star and more. She has appeared to discuss policy issues on WBBM CBS Chicago, WYCC PBS Chicago, Fox 32 Chicago and other outlets across the U.S.

Prior to launching Concision Media, Hilary was the vice president of communications for the Illinois Policy Institute, the most influential state-based think tank in the country. During her tenure, she tripled the Institute’s media reach, lead an organizational rebranding effort and managed crisis communications. She also published regular opinion pieces in Crain’s Chicago Business, the Daily Herald, Fox News and more. Before joining the Institute, Hilary was a reporter at the Northwest Herald, where she covered local government and wrote enterprise stories focusing on politics at the state level. During her time at the Northwest Herald, she was awarded an Illinois Press Association award for feature writing, and many of her stories were picked up by the Associated Press and featured in the Chicago Tribune.

Hilary earned her bachelor’s degree in English at Kenyon College and her master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

When she’s not writing or running her business, Hilary enjoys spending time with her husband and two beautiful babies.
